Title: Chamomile Lawn
Fandom: LOTR
Characters: Théodred
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: Characters and places aren't mine, I'm just playing with them for a while
There were no formal gardens in Rohan. No raised beds where flowers were forced to grow in straight lines, no hedges trimmed into unnecessary cones and spirals.
Outsiders may scoff and call them uncivilized, unable to appreciate the beauty of a garden, but they were wrong.
Rohan’s gardens, like her people, grew wild and free.
Théodred’s own secret garden lay in an ancient grove of trees. Blue borage, feverfew daisies, scarlet bergamont and the purples of vervain and lavender surrounded a carpet of chamomile lawn which filled the glade with a sweet soft scent when crushed beneath a lover’s embrace.

Date: 2009-09-14 11:30 pm (UTC)I really like your contrast between the regimented
Gondoriangardens and the more natural, untrammeled Rohirric view of nature. Of course they had no time for precise gardening, their backs were always pretty much to the wall. Not that it stopped them from appreciating beauty wherever they found it.I particularly like the flowering herbs you've listed, all very colorful, refreshing and aromatic. I can just imagine Theodred and
Boromirhis companion enjoying the pleasant scent of crushed chamomile, underlying the other sensory pleasures of the moment. Lovely, lovely.no subject

I can imagine that too :)
